Serves: 2-4, depen
- In a non-reactive medium sized pot, bring the water, wine and sugar to a boil.
- Turn it down to a simmer and add the pears, spices and zest. Simmer for 30 minutes. If the liquid doesn't cover the fruit, you can add more water, however I just rotated the pears every 5-10 minutes and it worked fine.
- Remove from heat to cool. Serve warm or refrigerate overnight to develop more flavor (recommend!). Yummy with a dollop of ice cream. You may cook the poaching liquid down further to serve with the fruit or serve as is.
